It is our goals that our services should be more engaging on issues that affect each of us - especially issues of diversity. Although diversity and multiculturalism are not new concepts, their reality in our community is becoming increasingly apparent. Canada receives estimate of 400,000 newcomers each year to settle in our community with the numbers steadily increasing. This is a clear indication that our practices and policies must change to be reflective and inclusive of everyone in our community. Because of the rapid changes in our community, the need for cultural diversity training on many levels becomes crucial. Initiating discussion about differences creates and necessitates a shift in thinking for most people who have never considered the concept of ‘diversity’.
